KAWS "PASSING THROUGH" EXHIBITION DEBUT IN HONG... →
The artist will have various paintings, sculptures, and graphics on display, but the piece generating the most fervor is the debut of his 5 meter Companion sculpture. This is by far the largest sculpture KAWS has undertaken, and he’s provided a preview of the exhibition’s mainstay. (VIA HYPEBEAST) JNOMICS

How Nike's CEO Shook Up the Shoe Industry: w/...
(CLICK HERE OR ON THE IMAGE TO LINK TO THE ARTICLE) Parker’s own top-shelf designs for HTM, a collaboration with Hatfield and Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara, can sell to collectors for as much as $1,000 a pair. As the rich, famous, and fashionable began to sport colorful Nikes, clothing designers began to retool their collections to accommodate the sneakerhead lifestyle. Fashion...

IS THE DMCA (DIGITAL MILLENIUM COPYRIGHT ACT)... →
I’m curious if part of what we are witnessing beyond, or perhaps influencing, the courtroom’s actions, is the evolution of how the market is choosing to handle rights management. Doesn’t a culture increasingly built on remix incentivize right’s holders to permit more open uses of their works? Are the business models beginning, slowly, to catch up with the platforms and distributions networks?...

COLLABORATION AND CONSUMER GOODS AS ARTWORKS
(DAMIEN HIRST X SUPREME) (JAMES JOYCE X SWISS ARMY) (MURAKAMI X LOUIS VUITTON X SUPREME) (KAWS X KIEHLS(RXART) X NIKE) Identifying consumer goods, produced via collaboration between fine artists and creative firms, as art or not is a topic generating some debate in the blogosphere (see these two - one two - posts from Hyperallergic). Given...

P. Krugman: Who’s Afraid Of The Ratings Agencies?
One thing you sometimes hear is that the game will be up when the ratings agencies downgrade U.S. debt. I wonder how many of the people saying this know that Moody’s and S&P downgraded Japanese debt in 2002, with Moody’s actually putting it below Botswana and Estonia. And 8 years later, Japan can still borrow at less than 1 percent. Food for thought  on a tired Sunday night.  Good luck...

REEBOK X BASQUIAT MISSTEP
Reebok missed an opportunity with its recent Reebok x Basquiat release. These projects work best when an outside artist is contracted to design a shoe or a series of shoes. Think: KAWS x NIKE KANYE X NIKE JEFF STAPLE X NIKE Other examples of great collaborative work between artists and companies include these skatedecks by Supreme: JEFF KOONS X SUPREME DAMIEN HIRST X SUPREME Given...

CHAD WYS BRUTALIZED DELIGHTS ART - REMIX COMES TO...
I love these b/c they represent an evolution of remix culture and its entry into the realms of fine art, sculpture and design.  Not that this kind of work hasn’t been done before, but I found these works especially visually appealing. This is creative economy. (Click here to check the original posting on Trendland [dot] com) JNOMICS
