Being a person who reads The Economist is an aspirational fantasy for people who see themselves as intellectuals. Actually reading the thing is fine, and I take my hat off to those who do so, but when my friends say they’re regular readers, I find it suspect.

Tumblelogger anfscu doesn’t trust his friends. Aspirational fantasists - you are more than welcome here. (via theeconomist)

Made me smile.  I too am mistrusting of my friends’ reading (and watching) habits. Not sure if it’s the weekly reading of The Economist or the two volume edition of Weber’s Economy and Society that I’m bashing my way through.  I suggest watching Charlie Rose interviews as a daily therapeutic reprieve.
