Drivel from Billboard: 21 Under 21
Billboard markets itself as an authority on, and news provider for, the music business. Yet, articles like the one linked above, show it to be nothing more than a marketing/PR outlet for the industry and borderline gossip column. As someone with an abiding interest in the music business, I find this kind of stuff aggravating. Not that there aren’t other reliable sources for industry information, but given Billboard’s platform, they could provide a much more substantive perspective.
I don’t want to hear about the 21 Under 21 in terms of their “artistry.” If I want to know something more about the music business, then tell me about the A&R teams that are developing these young entertainers; tell me who is writing their material; tell me who is producing their work; tell me about their marketing/pr strategies; tell me about their representation; don’t sell me drivel about their artistry or “their” goals like I’m reading Rollingstone or US Weekly.

I was just using billboard as a reference on what music to download and I saw that article, then I saw that Justin Bieber was on it, and I just said, “puh-leeze” and sifted through.
