via Mashable: OK Go to Write Its Name in GPS Across L.A. in Massive Musical Parade

When a band that sells too few records to maintain the interest of its label is able to exit one business relationship and establish new professional partnerships, exploiting alternative creative mediums, to maintain a profitable small business, that is good.  Both firms (the label and the band) win.  Aggregating this dichotomy across the industry maintains the mutual benefit for all firms.  Labels are able to more efficiently employ their production inputs, focusing their resources on acts that have greater earning potential; and bands, like OK Go, are able to maintain higher profits, taking in a higher portion their earnings than they could in partnership with a label.
