President Bill Clinton through the eyes of Chuck Close.  One of the most fascinating influences on Close’s work is his struggle with face blindness (Prosopagnosia).  As a result of this disease -  “A disorder of face perception where the ability to recognize faces is impaired, while the ability to recognize other objects may be relatively intact.” - Close must first take a series of pictures and then choose a single photograph from which to base the portrait.  Given a photograph, an object, he is able to recognize the image over time.  I’ve found that this bit of knowledge changes my own perception, and enjoyment, of Close’ work.
