The Best of Junya Watanabe, Paris (via The Sartorialist)

(via The Sartorialist 1.23.2011)

Found these images to be hugely inspiring.  I used to rock the last look about 10 years ago.  The constant movement of fashion is fascinating, as are the reasons for why the system works as it does.  The latter gets into issues of intellectual property protections (or the lack of them) and the question of whether such an open system propels the market forward, requiring constant change, as the ideas of designers are not protected season to season.  Such considerations also direct attention to the rapidity with which the goods produced are developed, sold, discarded, and then re-imagined.  The only other market corollary I can think of is technology, but the purpose of that market is quite different. This is just a single consideration, but something I’ve been thinking about for the last 6 months.  I think a formal paper could be forthcoming.  One where the materials covered are not solely legal, solely economic, or solely creative, but rather an inquiry that synthesizes various types of information, and seeks to communicate a new idea about the nature of creativity.
